Amidst the barren desert,
There is a ballet in the sky.
Two white trails stretch across the sky,
Going back and forth for hours on end.
Two F-22s make the trails,
As they play follow the leader like two children.
Unaware of the silence of the desert below,
They dance at 25,000 feet carelessly.
A sole F-16 chases them,
But can’t keep up with the pure speed and maneuverability of the F-22s.
In a desert so silent, they break the silence with a loud sonic boom,
A sound that I will always remember as the Sound of Freedom.

Poem is based from a vacation that I took with my dad and my brother back in April of 2005. We were sitting just outside of Edwards AFB down in the Mojave Desert and watched these aircraft takeoff, perform some high altitude maneuvers, and break the sound barrier. We started taking a yearly trip down to the Mojave Desert and Antelope Valley back in 2003 to watch aircraft fly out of Palmdale Plant 42, Edwards AFB, and NAS China Lake. I can't wait until our next exciting trip.
